Norse Varsity Volleyball players communicate as they spike the ball to victory.

The Norsemen volleyball team had a historic season in the fall of 2022. There were record numbers of seniors, creating a full Varsity with just two juniors, a Varsity Reserve Team, as well as a C Team. This year’s Varsity Girls team surpassed expectations and past records, going 33-2.

High school math teacher Mr. Keith Kenyon stated it best on his social media: “It didn’t end the way we wanted, but that doesn’t minimize the incredible and historic season of our Westby Norse. I am so proud of the effort of our girls and fans!”

Not only did the volleyball players embody school spirit and sportsmanship, our student section was also honored by referees for being exemplary.

As a cap to this memorable and exciting season, the varsity team was the undefeated conference champions, regional champions, and a division 3 sectional runner up.

Multiple members of the team had conference honors.

  • All Conference First team: Jayda Berg, Emily Collins, Bethany Roethel, and Tricia Klum
  • All Conference Second team: Olivia Nedland, and Kennedy Breuggen
  • All Conference Honorable Mention: Kenzie Stellner
  • AVCA Best and Brightest Second Team: Emily Collins
  • AVCA Best and Brightest First Team: Jayda Berg, Bethany Roethel

Kudos to Jayda Berg for being the Coulee Conference Player of the Year!
